MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE STUDENTS` ASSOCIATION, UENR (MELSSA-UENR)

Individuals who have a passion for saving lives through science, technology, and research are welcome to the University of Energy and Natural Resources(UENR) to receive nothing but the best of quality training from highly recognized experts and specialists in the field.

MELSSA-UENR is an association under the Department of Basic and Applied Biology at the University of Energy and Natural Resources. MELSSA-UENR is composed of students pursuing BSc. Medical Laboratory Sciences. Management of the department fought a good fight in spearheading the accreditation and recognition of the programme. The pioneers of the programme also started a good fight in making MELSSA – UENR a recognized association through serious studies, hard work and determination. Since then, students have been admitted to study this enviable four-year bachelor programme. MELSSA – UENR is a member of The Federation of Ghana Medical Laboratory Students Association, the mother federation of all recognized Local MELSSA Chapters from other institutions.

VISION

We envision becoming the most dominant Medical Laboratory Students body recognized in the promotion of science, technology, innovation, and research that results in a massive advancement in modern health and a full fulfillment in the service to humanity.

MISSION

  1. Contribute to quality healthcare in our environment and nationwide.
  2.  Cooperate with senior members in the field to aid in student mentorship.
  3. Seek affiliation and foster cooperative links with higher national and international health organizations.
  4. Advocate for educational opportunities which seek to mold students into becoming quality Medical Laboratory Scientists of high professionalism in the health sector.
  5. Organize workshops and skills enhancement training that seek to equip students in the field.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To foster unity and promote welfare among lecturers and students of the association;
  • To promote interest and facilitate academic progress in the course of study;
  • To protect the interest of the students;
  • To protect and enhance the image of Medical Laboratory Science Students’ Association in UENR and elsewhere.
  • To help members become more practical oriented in the various fields of Medical Laboratory.
